| Born several centuries ago, during Avatar Kuruk's time, and raised in the Northern Air Temple, Lhamo was but an acolyte in the teachings of the Air Nomads. One day, he left to meditate in a secluded and spiritually-rich area of the nearby Earth Kingdom; his meditations against one of the most hallowed and ancient of trees led him to great misfortune. Mischievous spirits lurked and stole him away from his body, leaving his vessel in the care of the tree spirit helpless to leave her roots and aid him. For generations, he wandered the spirit realm for a way to return to his body and eventually began losing himself to the ravages of the realm's lawlessness to survive: his upbringing lurked in the back of his mind, but his life was too precious to lose until he could at least find his way home. Then, one day, a young earthbender named Kentarou discovered the hidden spot where Lhamo had been enshrined by the tree spirit, overgrown by the vines and foliage of the area. He had not aged for lack of his spirit, and it was not until Ken disturbed this delicate balance that Lhamo was thrust back into his own body. The tree spirit did not take kindly to the disruption and threw them both out quite bodily. Ken took the shaken and confused Lhamo in, allowing him to stay with the family's traveling circus until it could be determined who Lhamo was or what had happened to him. They continued on like that for a year or two, until news of the Avatar's return began to echo throughout the kingdom. The Avatar. An airbender. Someone who might give Lhamo the resolution and condemnation he sought for abandoning so many of the Air Nomads' teachings for so long. They met up with Team Avatar briefly, before separating ways as the Team ventured into Ba Sing Se to speak with the Earth King; Lhamo and Ken forwent that, as it would be impossible to get the entire family of entertainers in the city with them, and waited to see the outcome. They did not catch up to the Avatar again until after the war's end wherein they all became more than acquaintances in joined sympathy for the lost Air Nomad relics. The world spun on. Skip to nearly seventy years later and the new Avatar is making her way in the world. Lhamo has found himself to be effectively immortal as long as the planet lives, its life energy having found a host inside of him much the same that the Avatar houses the planet's spirit. He and the somewhat-aged Ken live in Republic City and are two parts of their own pro-bending team, the Lion Turtles, with Lhamo acting as firebender with the help of some special pyrotechnic devices strapped to his body. As far as most people know, he's simply a fair-haired Fire Nation descendent who keeps some odd company in his occasional visits to Air Temple Island.
